Hi, My name is Crystal and i found this forum by looking at bathing cats. I just rescued a kitten from a very horrible home and got him all fixed up just a few weeks ago. His name is Monte (said like: mon-tee). He's half Maine Coon and the other half is unknown. So he's growing rapidly and probably weighs more than 4.5lbs already! He's bluish grey and white with dark grey stripes (on his sides and head) and spots (on his belly). He was born July 4, 2008, and will be 4 months in a few days! Yay Monte! A little backround about his past:
Monte was born into a home that didn't want him to be born in the first place. the people were young, had 17 other cats, a dog, and none of the cats were neutered. Monte's aunt had kittens on May 28th, his mom gave birth July 4th, and his other aunt gave birth September 23. making the already full house even worse. All the cats were infested with fleas and his mom had worms which she gave to him. So this woman needed to get rid of majority of her cats because she was expecting in 2 months. Which is where i came in to play. I got Monte at 5 weeks of age which is way too young for a kitten (who really shouldn't leave their mom until 12 weeks). I was unaware of his age until he wasn't eating and i brought him to a vet. He had hardly any of his kitten teeth, couldn't eat hard food, had fleas, had worms (tapeworms), missed his suckleing from mom, and was very sad and depressed. I felt horrible leaving him even for 5 hours to go to work. I bottle fed him, I snuggled with him, healed him, and nutured him (and of course still do), and now Monte is a rambunctious, full of life, crazy-energetic, (almost) 4 month old kitten who has the run of the house and is spoiled rotten! I am so happy to see that I was able to care for this wonderful addition and he has made it through his hard time and is now fully happy. He adores my boyfriend also because Chris lets him tackle his legs and scratch/ bite his hands, lol. Check out my profile to see my photos!

well welcome to the forum, my you must have had your hands full, he sounds like a lovely well adjusted kitten! Good for you!!! any idea what happened to the rest of the kittens/cats?

Hi there - Welcome! I am also new... ish and its a great site to get information, opinions based on experiences and lots of support. My dog became ill and we subsequently lost him after three months of trying different avenues to help him. I received huge support from the members of this site and continue to do so.
