eye removed because of glocoma

My 7yr old golden retriever (male) just had his right eye removed yesterday because he had glocoma and nothing was helping. He was in pain and I felt his quality of life would be much better with out that sick eye. My Question to any one that has had this surgery done to their dog is after the surgery did your dog start having nose bleeds?

Mel

I would call the vet that did the surgery as soon as you can and pose the question. That doesn't sound like a normal consequence of removing an eye, Mel.

for a quick recovery for your boy!

Not normal at all

My Buster has had one of his eyes removed due to an accident. This is not a normal reaction to the surgery. Maybe there is something else going on, you should phone the vet right away. And please let us know how you make out.

Prayers, good vibes, and all the good luck I can spare are winging your way, melinmontana2. Is the vet going to do further testing?

thanks!!

Thank you all for your words of encouragement. Monday chester goes in for a scope and more tests. we wanted to bring him home for the weekend to heal from the eye surgery and give him much needed luvin. His nose continues to bleed when he gets up and active but he is feeling soooooo much better now that the eye is gone (no pain!!). I adopted chester 1 1/2 years ago from the retriever rescue here in montana. He is such a joy and is a very young 7 yr old (he thinks lol). I hope we can have alot more time with him.

Mel
