Butcher in/near Atlanta, GA?

Hello everyone!

I need to find a butcher in Atlanta, but after calling a few I cannot seem to find any that have organs or chicken backs/necks and that type of thing. You know, raw pet food

So if anyone knows of a friendly butcher in or around Atlanta (I'm willing to travel far if I have to) would you please share their information? My kitty and other future carnivores would appreciate any and all help!

Now since I'm new here, let me introduce myself. I've had animals my whole life and I consider myself to be both an animal and Nature lover. I recently lost my beloved golden retriever mix of 14 years. Currently I have two beautiful ball pythons, Squiggles and Bertrand, and one kitty, Bebe, that my boyfriend and I adopted in Feb of this year. I am new to raw feeding...for cats and dogs! Of course I was an easy convert to raw even after many, many years of feeding "high grade" kibble to my beloved Sandy and other dogs, because I've always fed my snakes a species appropriate diet and it just seemed logical!

I started seeking help for Bebe very soon after we adopted her. She never refused food and she had very high resource defensiveness. She would constantly gorge herself and then throw up/have the runs later even though we had her on the most expensive food we could find. She constantly scratched and sneezed and had runny eyes because of allergies and even though we were certain that she was not a year old, she had nasty looking teeth. I told a coworker my issues and she suggested feeding carnivorous fuzzy pets a prey diet--I have never looked back.

Bebe is now amazingly healthy. I'm not sure that I've ever seen a more sleek and beautiful coat! She has not thrown up once since we changed her to a prey diet, her teeth made a 180° turn around to pure white, she has no allergies and she only had a bathroom accident when she jumped up on the table and drank a bunch of cereal milk (she cannot do milk/cheese at all). I can't believe the difference in her.

So now that I am mostly over losing Sandy, I am thinking of adopting a GSD (or maybe even getting a puppy, who knows) because I have wanted one my whole life, and I will be feeding her/him a prey diet as well. There is only one problem--GSD's get BIG and I will need to find a cheaper, more reliable source for large RMB's, as the Publix can be pricey even for my small kitty and even for sale items. So help on finding a butcher is most appreciated.

Thanks and I am happy to now be an official member of the group and not just a "lurker."

Well hello back at ya! Welcome to pets.ca.

That's fantastic that Bebe is doing so well, good for you for being proactive about her diet. I have a couple links for you that might help in your quest for cheaper meat. In the first one, if you scroll down to the "List of Meat Suppliers" and then further down to the USA section, there is a bunch of info to sort through. The second link is for the CarnivoreFeed-Supplier group on Yahoo. You have to join to be a member, but they should be able to point you in the direction of reasonably priced meat sources. Other options might be to ask around at a local farmers market.

Hope that helps a bit. Good luck. Oh, and you know of course that we're going to want to see for ourselves just how sleek and beautiful Bebe is, so if you have some pics to share........

Mod, thanks for deleting dup posts. For whatever reason it was not showing up on my computer

I've called all the people I found off of Google searches and they all claim that they don't sell organ meat. I'm just going to keep asking around and maybe order some until I can find a reliable supplier. Has anyone had dealings with these PoshNosh people? Any advice about ordering meat online? I always order rodents for my snakes online so I'm betting that it's not really that much different

The aquarium is of course quite awesome but there's also 6 flags, the High Art Museum, Fairbank Museum of Natural History, the Botanical Gardens, tons of outdoors stuff to do on the Chattahoochee river, plays and shows at the Fox Theatre and the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra plays at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre. There's also a pretty good nightlife going on and a plethora of great places to go out to eat!

Have fun visiting your family! Maybe ask them if they have a butcher they go to
