Thinking of getting a Pure-breed Labrador Retriever Puppy...
Hello,
I am just wondering if there are any Pure-breed Labrador Retriever Puppy owners out there? My boyfriend and I are thinking about getting one to be company to our kitty, name Nemo. Wondering if there are any in Richmond, BC or near there? Please respond. Erin +

Thinking of getting....
I don't have a Labrador but I do have goldens which are similar. This is an active breed and will need lots of exercise. They shed a lot and are prone some illnesses. Labs love to eat and will eat almost anything inlcuding non-food items. Before you adopt a Labrador you should do your research by speaking to other Labrador owners. If you decide this is the right breed for you make sure you adopt from a rescue group or shelter or buy your pup from a reputable breeder.

Lab Puppy
Hi there: I am a Lab owner in the lower mainland. My wife's girlfriend breeds AKC labs but she doesn't plan to have puppies soon. However, she can refer you to their breeder in the Mission, BC area.
My Lab is from the upcountry. He's the English kind and a couch potato as oppose to the typical American field dog most people come into mind for Labs. This morning I was trying to call my breeder to get a Lab puppy for a friend of mine who drools over my boy every time we met. If you don't mind to get one from the upcountry, PM me and I will pass on my breeder's contact info when I got ahold of her. Last edited by TKW; May 13th, 2008 at 12:11 PM. |

I think you should really consider looking at your local SPCA first....they always seem to have lots of lab pups, and I have always found that the lab personality tends to be dominant in lab mix dogs (just my opinion).
Also beware that they usually have A LOT of energy, and they tend to be bouncy and crazy well into adulthood. My boyfriend's parents have a Lab X German Shepherd who is 10, and developing arthritis....but as soon as you set foot in her backyard she is jumping, running in circles, and forcing you to play fetch with her until she is ready to collapse! If you're a high-energy couple and like to spend lots of time outside then great - but if you're more laid-back you may want to reconsider your breed choice. Another plus of labs is that they are very gentle and tend to be very good with kids (but like any dog still need training and socialization).
