Hello everyone I'm Knew Here

I have a 13 month old American Pitbull Terrier who loves to eat petrolium jelly. I would like to know is it okay for him to lick it off my fingers are Do you think this will harm him ? Also from time to time he has dry stool . Any advice you give will be greatly appreciated. Thanks Tammy

Bad idea. He doesn't need it and it could potentially harm him. Maybe you could find a more healthy 'treat', raw carrots or apple (without the core) are good choices.
The dry stool problem may be a result of his diet. What are you feeding him?

Welcome to the forum and we'd love to see pics of your little guy. I agree with Badger and what are you feeding him?

I agree with the above. Gas and oil are petroleum based too...

Definitely re-examine what you're feeding and fix it there rather than feeding vaseline...

My Dog Loves Vasaline

Thanks everyone on the response I receive from you on yesterday . My dog eats Iams. If I rub lotion on my legs he likes to lick that off also. I guess it's the smell. He is 13 months old and 75 pounds. For and American Pitbull Terrier he is very loveable and meets no stranger. It's all in how you raise them. Also he's a house dog.

I wouldn't let him lick any of that stuff, it's full of chemicals. I realize you find it kind of sweet but it is dangerous for your dog.
Iams is not great food. There is a food thread here that may give you some ideas.
You mean he never goes anywhere? What about walks, meeting other people? Dogs need a social life!
PS we love pit bulls here

I have heard the phrase "meets no stranger" before as meaning that everyone they meet is a friend. Maybe that is what tammycook meant.

Meets No Stranger

Yes Taz meets no stranger that means he gets alone with everyone. He loves all dogs and people and is very playful.

Once again, I agree with Badger. Don't allow him to lick any of that stuff as the effects can build up over time.

I also agree that Iams is not a good brand to feed. Please read some of the threads in the Food Forum here and if you have any questions post them there.

Also, we'd love to see pics of your little guy.
