1 yr old shih tzu with seizure disorder?

My daughter has a one year old shih tzu and just in the past week it has had seizures almost every night. The dog will throw her head back, body stiff and seems to tremble and will yelp once or twice, always looses her bladder control. This will go on for only a few seconds then the dog seems to be ok. She has a 10year old daughter who plays very ruff with the dog. Could she have caused spinal damage or could the dog have just started showing symptoms of some seizure disorder?
