help me teach "stack" or "stand" for shows
I need pointers on how to train my dog to stand properly for showing. Any suggestions? As he is just 5 mo...he hates being still very long!
thanks! |

You have to get his total attention. then show him some treats, but don't give it to him until he stacks. As soon as he is still give him a litte. As he gets better at holding still you can position his legs. Good luck

As I understand small breeds are typically required to "stack" on a table, some find that scary and they end up hunching up their back as a result

Not that I'm ever going to be in a show ring, but what is the difference between standing and stacking?

A dog standing is how they 'want' to stand. When you stack a dog it shows off the angulation of their body. Their rear legs are further out than how most of our pets stand. Cider sometimes chooses to stand like the picture of the stacked dog above, but it's not the natural way for her to stand.
