Question CKC Registration Question

I am a member of the CKC. My bitch is registered and the sire I bred her to is registered. The Q&A portion on the CKC website is not working for me, so I have a few questions regarding registration for those that are knowledgable in this area.

1. The first thing to do is register the litter, right?

2. From what I understand, I will receive individual registration forms for each puppy after I register the litter. When do I register each puppy? As soon as I get the forms? Do I let the new owners do this? (If I register each puppy, I then have to transfer ownership at the time someone purchases one, right?).

3. Can I register the litter online?

Thanks in advance for you help

First you need an application for registration of littler born in Canada. You must have signatures of the dam and sire in ink. So you can't do it online. Go to the CKC site and click services, and then CKC online forms. print the one you need and fill it out. Good luck

Yes. And then you will be sent the individual apps for each puppy.

The breeder is responsible for transferring the ownerships to the new owners and for paying the registration cost.

Normally, one would place the puppies and then submit the individual apps on each puppy registering them to each new owner. So you kill two birds with one stone - you register the individual puppies at the same time as you transfer the ownership to the new owners.

That said, I suppose some may not be sold for a while and you are legally bound to provide the registrations to the new owners of the ones sold within 6 months of the purchase dates so you may have to register those ones and wait on the unsold ones.

Yes, but you must have signed an electronic registration agreement with the CKC and have a member password to access that area.
