A monarch butterfly that my boys 'grew' in their bug catcher.

Another pic. This is a male butterfly because it has two black dots on its wings and thinner black lines. The females has no dots and thicker black lines. It's amazing what you learn when you have kids!

The two chrysalis's. Notice the gold dots and you can almost see the wings inside.

How can such beautiful butterflies come from such icky caterpillers? I wish we had Swallowtails in this area.

I am sooo happy to see an abundance of butterflies this year,last year there were very few
Any new plant I buy has to attract butterflies.
CK,I am going to look at that site..
To an alcoholic(no drink for 15 yrs now)girlfriend of mine,who survived years of spousal abuse,the Butterfly is a symbol of freedom and survival.

I don't know my butterflies. Only recognize the Monarchs and the Swallowtails. So pretty!
