That was pretty funny, and an interesting history lesson!
At obedience we get homework sheets with exercises to work on. I lost the very first one. I came into the second class. When the instructor asked how the homework went, I told her my dog ate it. It was only a Joke, but she was not impressed at all! That is the only time I ever used the excuse.
