Layer Dip Needed!!!!!
Im going to a gathering this weekend and being polite me, offered to bring something and they said bring a dip!
So I was thinking if anyone had a receipe for the layered dip (white on the bottom, not sure whats in the middle, salsa, and cheese on the top!) Its the dip thats always the first to be eaten at any/every party. And I need to know the best kind of crackers to go along with it! Im not a fan of baked beans though, so a receipe with no beans would be greatly appreciated! Thanks Sarah |

One of my co-workers makes an amazing one! she uses a 3 inch deep large round dish, she puts seasoned gound beef (tex-mex) on the bottom, sour cream on next later, salsa on the next layer, and grated cheddar cheese on the top.
She serves them with those large corn chips, and spoons (it's so heavy you have to spoon it on the chip!). Hope this helps.

Didn't notice till today, but hey, i'll throw in a recipe
Taco Dip 1 Brick of Cream Sheese (easier to spread once you let it sit for a few minutes, or you have to work with it a bit to get it to spread smoothly) Taco Sauce (mild, lets be nice) Chopped Green Onions Chopped Tomatoes Shredded Mozerella Thats in the order they go in the dip. I have seen this done on several plates around the party, or just one glassware dish. I personally prefer white tortilla chips, resturant style |

I used to serve the 'salsa' dip all the time, until I tasted this one.......
1/2 pd cream cheese 1 cup shredded old chedder 1 can smoked ham 1/4 cup fresh chives mix all the ingredients together, if it's too thick add a tsp of mayo in, save some cheese to toss on top.. serve with crispy rice crackers (low fat ) or vegie thins.... you'll see, it will be cleaned out in no time! Everytime I serve it, it seems to become the dip people must keep eating! Good Luck and I hope you enjoy your gathering

Here is one more its sort of similar but its good too.
Cheese dip You need One sour dough loaf hollowed out. One tub of sour cream med size light or regular one brick of cream cheese softened light or regular about three cups of shredded cheddar cheese ( preshedded saves time) about a 1/4 cup of sliced black olives or one of the small tins drained one bunch of green onions chopped up. a few swigs of tabbasco sauce or hot sauce mix together well put in bread and bake at about 375 for about an hour or until bubbly. Serve with taco chips and left over bread bits. Here is another favorite thats very common these days Spinach dip One sour dough loaf one package of frozen spinach thawed and drained one can of water chestnuts chopped up one package of knorrs veggie soup mix one container of sour cream the medium one one package of softened cream cheese about a cup of mayo or about equal to the sour cream and cream cheese about a cup of two of shredded cheese can add green onions too if you want mix together sour cream, cream cheese and mayo then mix in spinach water chest nuts and cheese and green onions. Serve in a sour dough loaf with chips veggies or whatever you want. Last edited by Joey.E.CockersMommy; May 26th, 2005 at 08:00 PM. Reason: typo |

Pizza Dip Recipe
This is a family favorite tried tested and true, we have it all the time and there is never any left over.
Base 8 oz cream cheese 1/2 cup sour cream 1/4 cup mayo Mix and spread over a 12" pizza pan Then spread 1 cup SEAFOOD cocktail sauce over base. (Best not to substitue with shrimp cocktail sauce) *** optional*** sprinkle with 1 can broken shrimp Cover with 2 cups shredded mozza cheese Garnish with 1 chopped green pepper, 2 green onions(chopped fine) and 1 or two diced tomatoes ( dice and take out seeds then dry with paper towels. We use the scooping tortilla chips or Breton crackers. The tortilla chips work well as they can be used as a spoon. Worth the extra time to put together. |

This is my "7" layer mexican dip
1 cup sour cream 1 brick cream cheese 2 cups grated old cheddar (or a blend of cheese of your choice) 1 cup green/red/yellow peppers chopped (I like green, but the others are sweeter) 1 cup sweet onion chopped (I usually omit because I'm not a fan of raw onion, but if you soak in a lemon juice/vinegar mix then rinse, it takes away the harshness of the onion) 1 tin of refried beans or black beans (if you want to make taco meat instead, that is fine too) 1 jar of favorite salsa. 1. soften the cream cheese to room temp and blend with the sour cream with a hand mixer until combined. This is the first layer. 2. layer the chopped peppers next 3. layer the onions next 4. layer the beans next 5. layer the salsa next 6. layer the cheese last I know..it's technically 6 layers, as the first two are mixed. Make at LEAST 24 hours in advance. I use a lasagna pan as it works the best. Refridgerate for 24 hours, then serve as the flavours all mix together. I think the onions and peppers really make this dip as they add a crispyness/crunchyness that other dips don't have.

if you really want to be polite and very PC try not putting MEAT in it, ewww yuck. think of that poor vegetatian that did not hear the host say it had meat, the lights are dim, they cnat see well, they take a nice big dip into your sauce, and then bammmmoooooo, their hit with it, ewww, they will never come back and blame the host (i would anyways ). and you cant have salsa without avocado, now thats unheard of
mine/mums/sisters salsa recepie goes like this, and i have never taken any home or threw any out thats for sure- you can buy salsa in a bottle these days, and you can choose the spicyness. there are a million to try, jsut choose. you put the salsa dip in the bottom of the bowl, take fresh avacados and mash them up, dolop the mash out on the salsa, spread it out but leave a slight color of red salsa aroudn the side, add cheese on top and garnish with a nice sprig of parsley,. alternativly- mash about 7 avacados add 1 red onion chopped sml, add a splash of tobasco sauce to taste add slat and pepper to taste, chop up 2 tomatos into little cubes and mix it all up, serve in a bowl with chees grated on top, that way you get a nice salsa/avacado/cheese mix, yuuuuuummmmm serve with corn chips or plain rice crackers and always always remember - no dish ever looks complete (even if it tastes crap) without a nice garnish, parsley or red and green basil are just so darn gosh perty (cant ya hear the accent ). (should not be doing this, am drinking beer and salsa is such a good beer recepie, oh me soooo hungry now, better check whats in that cupboard??)
