A really awesome cat toy that you CAN get in Canada is Neko Flies: https://www.nekoflies.com/

But do head this warning:

Warning

Some cats become so enamored and hooked on NEKO FLIES that they have been known to try and get the toy off a shelf by themselves! This is an interactive toy for a human to play with the kitty, so keep your Neko flies tucked safely tucked away in a drawer or closet until you are ready to play with your cat again!
Speaking from experience, my cats (Peppercorn in particular) are absolutely obsessed with Neko Flies. The will forego treats, all other toys, even the opportunity to go outside (in their enclosure, I should clarify) in favour of playing with the Neko.

Hi Marco,

Thank you for that, I will make sure I say "no" when he attacks something he shouldn't. I have been using a loud tssstt noise and that seems to stop him right away, but I. Am trying to get my husband to do it and he is almost as stubborn as the cat about listening to me. Lol.

Is it bad to hiss back at a cat when he does it to you??

Also, any ideas on how long to I wait until I try and hold him?? I don't want to force him, but I'm afraid if I wait to long, he might never let me..not just hold him, but touch him in general.

I purchased a bird teaser toy and used it for the first time last night. He went crazy...he seemed like a true hunter. I had to take it away after a while because i did lt want him to ruin it in the first 10 minutes of use. It was awesome. I got mine at a store called pet planet in Calgary...there was another uses that was looking for them. They might ship.

A loud 'No!' should accompany any attack on fingers.

100% of family members need to respect this rule 100% of the time....it can be fun to play with kittens with your fingers....but there must be NO exceptions.

Help Burn off a cat's excessive energy/ prey drive with appropriate toys.

This toy for a cat is like a porno mag (I mean the Internet - gosh I'm getting old) to a teenaged boy.

http://www.petco.com/product/104943/...er-Teaser.aspx

Highly, highly, highly recommended (the cat toy ).

I'm pretty sure this is the one that I got...it is great and you are right...I have no doubt Parker would jump through fire to get it.

Yes. Cats typically hiss because they're stressed, and hissing back is just going to stress them out more. A better idea is talk calmly and soothingly in a fairly high-pitched (but not loud) voice.

I really think it's too soon to consider holding him. I wouldn't even try until he's giving you head butts and rolling around in joy at getting pets, maybe even climbing in your lap. I have a cat (ex-feral) that will only tolerate being picked up for about 5 seconds max, and only when she's in a certain spot in the house and is being insanely affectionate. That's just the way it is. I accept that and don't push her boundaries. Some cats will never like the feeling of having their feet off the ground, and some take a long time to feel comfortable with it. My 20 yr old guy didn't become a lap cat until he was about 10 (and I've had him since he was a wee kitten), and now he absolutely adores getting carried around every morning by my husband. I'd say just go at a pace that Parker feels comfortable with. You'll have many years to get your cuddles in.

Cat Dancers are a similar toy that are fairly sturdy and simple. They are basically a REALLY long wire with a bunch of cardboard twists on the end. The wire makes them boucce in unpredictable directions and my cats absolutely adore it, but it is a toy that requires a human on the other end to make it work.

if you want something to give him to play with on his own and is super cheap, try zip ties. Noella absolutely loves them. I close them, making a ring out of them so she can carry them around, she throws them, hides them and loves them. I had to hide the bag cause she found them and would go and get them herself. The dog doesn't bother with them...she steals other cat toys. She plays with the catnip sock I made more than the cats do!
