Unhappy need advice should I get second opinion?

Hey all,

I posted a lot before about my cat.

I'm very worried. He's getting worse. The medication he is on seems very strange. I thought it was valium!! It has a long name and i just thought that was what it is because that's what the vet said he'd give him.

Well, I looked it up, and it's called amitriptylline
when I looked it up on the net it said it was an anti-depressant .....no mention of animals. I'm confused and my cat is a mess!!

His fur just keeps coming off and he's like a different cat. He's scared to death of everyone and isn't lovable (was a very, very lovable cat) he stays upstairs in one empty room in my house and just sleeps a lot. His fur (that he has left looks greasy) he's eating and going the bathroom but, his face
eyes.......dead look. It's so sad!!

Any advice?? I am calling the vet tomorrow (he's not there today)
but, thought this would be a great place to ask what ppl here think and has anyone had to give their pet(s) this?

for a whole month too! And it's only been about a week .......little more.
Just a half a pill every night. Just seems to be getting worse. I miss my cat!
Thanks in advance for any advice. Would be much appreciated!
~~Ani

P.S i edited this to add ....should I get a second opinion.......!?
