Lost my cat tonight
I had to put down my cat, Akela, tonight, we had made many trips to the emergency vet lately and they told me that although we could keep fighting, we were starting from scratch each time she came in and she would continue to be the same. She was in pain and had lately stopped eating and drinking. I held my baby as the vet gave her the injection. I have never had to do anything like that before. Coming home and realizing that she really was gone, looking at all of her toys, medications, prescription foods, blankets and bed, having to realize that she was not coming back, is extremely painful.
We have gone through the "life-saving" routine a few times. When I first got my cat she was a tiny kitten in a barn, and almost dead. When I arrived at the vet with the cat in a cardboard box, he told me that her odds weren't very good at all, but we pulled through. She was left with a partial paralysis in her hind legs from an accident in the barn. She was very selective about who she would associate with in the house and it took some coaxing to get on her good side. She settled into a routine at home, and got everything that she needed. I feel so lost without my baby here tonight, and still guilt for having made the decision that I did, even if reason tells me that she was having pain and I was out of options. I thought that I was ready, but I'm not at all. I hope that where she is now, she can walk properly, is getting lots of TLC and loving, and will wait for me until I see her again someday. I love her. I'm sorry for your loss, meghangd82.
What was your cat's name? Don't feel guilty about a decision you made from love in her best interest. She knows she was loved.

I am so sorry that you had to help you kitty cross the bridge, it is one of the most difficult things we do for our beloved pets. Just know that Akela is frolicking with all of our pets that have crossed the bridge before her. patti
