Toenail on tail?

This is not a joke! My Border Collie has what looks like a toenail coming out of her tail! It's about half way down her tail on the side. I saw it once before when I gave her a bath. That time I thought it was a peice of wood and pulled it out. Now it's back and it looks just like a toe nail! Has anyone ever seen this before???? Hi!! I'm a dog groomer and I've seen that on a few dogs. Im not sure what causes it but I know that its nothing to worry about. I usually just cut it as close to the skin as I can..I've never pulled it out though cause I wasn't sure if it would gush blood or hurt the dog. Maybe a vet would know more about why its there, but as far as I know, its just a random growth that shouldn't be much of a bother.
