Hi there. There are a lot of threads on here about the benefits/downfalls of different brands of food. You might want to perform a search to check them all out. Personally, I just moved my dog from Nutro (which is a pretty good food) to Wellness (which is a great food). Generally speaking, you should stay away from anything you can buy in a grocery store. Check out the ingredients. The first five should not contain anything called a "by-product", nor should they contain any corn. Don't let the price fool you. Just because a particular brand is more expensive, doesn't mean it'll cost more in the end. My dog was originally on Iams (before I found out all the negative aspects of it). She was eating easily 4 cups++ of food per day (and producing an equal amount of poo
). When we switched to Nutro, she went down to about 2 1/2 to 3 cups per day. Now, on Wellness, she's down to less than 2 cups. So even though the bag costs more, it lasts longer, and there's less waste in the yard. Hope this helps!

I saw a commercial for Eukanuba puppy food. Do you know anything about that stuff? I heard it's supposed to make your puppy really smart.

LOL! Yeah, and Slimfast and Bowflex will make me stunningly beautiful, 5' 10" tall with rock-hard abs and legs for miles. Sorry, I didn't mean to laugh.
No, Eukanuba isn't good food. It's made by Iams, first of all. Look at the first 5 ingredients in their original puppy formula (the first 5 are what makes up most of the food): Chicken, Corn Meal, Chicken By-Product Meal, Ground Whole Grain Sorghum (??), Fish Meal (source of fish oil) - not the greatest. Now look at the first 5 ingredients in the Wellness puppy formula: Deboned Chicken, Salmon Meal, Menhaden Fish Meal, Oatmeal, Barley Flour - not a by-product or kernel of corn to be found.

duffy eats Medi-Cal Development Formula. It's all natural so there's no preservatives and it's full of lots of good stuff but you can only get it at your vet and i can imagine it would become pricey if you were feeding a big dog. for a little dog, i think it's worth it.

I feed my boxer mix medi-cal and since she's been on it her hair loss and gas problems have cleared up (very thankful for the reduced gas
). it's expensive but probably saves on vet bills in the long run!
