Orijen cat food
Marbles - a 3 yr. old cat is coming to live here for the winter and was wondering if anyone recommends Orijen dry or has tried it with their kitties?

Mine get a mix of mainly orijen with some fancy feast dry and kirkland dry. They get too bored eating just one type, so if I mix them they eat it no problem.
At first all I was giving them was Orijen and they loved it, but boredom set in so the mix is working. Orijen is a great food IMO. clm |

My five cats eat Orijen dry and I've never seen their coats look so good. I've tried others like EVO but the Orijen is the one I'm sticking with so I'd recommend it. Just remember when you switch an animals food sometimes there can be an "adjustment" period with a little diarrhea and such.

I recommend it as well. I switched my two cats from Innova to Orijen about six months ago. They love it and they do not shed nearly as much as they used to.
They also get fed wet food twice a day which they eat right away. The Orijen is left out as a supplement as they like to snack. |

Mine don't shed nearly as much on Orijen, too. They are fed wet food as well as I don't think you should only feed a cat dry food, of course.

Orijen
Thanks guys, this kitty is one of 3 whose elderly owner was hospitalized in June and died in Sept. A friend of a friend took them to her farm and they had a wonderful summer in the barns and 2 adapted really well from being inside cats (over weight, over fed, very lazy). The orange tabby (7 yrs. old) missed the human companionship so was adopted through a rescue org. to an older woman and her son. He's doing really well and they love him to bits. The other 2 (3 yr. old siblings) were OK until it started to get colder (early Nov.) and the female whose is very shy wasn't coming up to the log bulding to feed as often as her brother. The male is doing great mainly because he's very social and loves some human interaction along with hanging out with the other cats in the barn. The owners of the farm won't let any animals into the house () and they are seeling less and less of the little female. I gave them a trap this a.m. and think she'd do better living with me although it will be quite an adjustment for her to get used to 4 little dogs. I do plan on feeding her canned along with the dry Origen - she needs to gain some weight after living on mice and the cheaper dry food.

That is so nice of you to give the poor little girl a home. It will be a bit of an adjustment with 4 dogs but I'm sure you know how to go about it. Good luck and keep us updated.
And, of course, we want pics please. |

Pubert is older and doing amazing on Orijen cat. He was on medical for a LONG time, and then got sick, after tests and more tests we found nothing. he had lost weight and was puking twice a day. We switched him to Orijen, his coat is the softest it's even been, it's cheaper then medical at only 1/4 cup per day - he eats less per day, he waits for his food now, and he put on weight.
The best part - he only pukes once in a while. (why do cats puke for no reason? geesh!) I also give him Evo wet once a day with his kibble.

I second the no puking part...our oldest girl is a 16 year old longhaired tortie, and she was ALWAYS puking no matter what we fed her, lots of hairballs and random puke. We switched to Orijen in October and she hasn't puked ONCE. It's obviously agreeing with her... and like the others have said, all three cats have gorgeous shiny coats, no dandruff, and have lost some of their unwanted extra weight. It's a wonderful food. Our two dogs are on Orijen, also with great results. We LOVE this food in our house!

My three cats eat Orijen, Jasper is an Orijen junkie, Sweet Pea gets canned with one Orijen meal, and Puddles is only allowed Orijen as a treat (few kibbles per day) and they all LOVE it. Their coats have improved, wonderful muscle mass (especally Sweet Pea who was a staving pregnant stray). I did have Japser on Wellness when I first got him, but he had runny poops, and they disappeared when I switched to Orijen.

Wow, I hadn't even realized it but my cats are not throwing up either since I made the switch to Orijen some months ago. I can't remember the last time I had to clean any up!!! When they were on EVO it was almost daily with at least one of them (never really knew who it was each time).

I knew it! ha! I tell ya, Pubert's wrecked the carpet more then Dazy!
Riddle me this - why is it always on the carpet? Never on the floor? Even in the bathroom, he goes to the bath mats.

I wish my cats liked Orijen, but they don't:sad:they ate some the first day,but that was it
I still have the first bag I bought and mix it with their "Chicken-Soup-for-catlovers-soul" and they leave the Orijen behind

Funny, isn't it, how "not dumb" our little ones are! They let us know very quickly what they do and don't like.
