They are loving you chico. Feeding them cuts from the roast is a great idea. I'm sure your cats would disagree
Around here we get such huge flocks of crows. The sound of them can almost be deafening at times. I have always heard that they are very smart birds. I'm sure it's true.

I was just reading about Crows in an old Nat. Geographic, apparently they make tools to achieve certain tasks. Often they are in the yard pecking the marrow from bones lying around, much to the dogs chagrin

we had a crow as a pet that would call out "grampa......supper"!!! *L* Blackie loved anything shiny and would steal keys, watches, nails anything he could lift and drop down a hole in the barn wall, grampa ended up making a trap door at the bottom of the wall so we could retrieve Blackie's goodies, he would pick up words so easily....do you really not get a lot of crows?? come 4 pm the sumack?shumac? tree's that line the one side of our house will be filled with over 200+ crows, noisy critters, I love them, Brina thinks she chases them because as one unit they will all fly away, circle the house and land again, by 5 pm they are all gone

We only have 4 at the moment and they rule this area, any new crow gets chased away, not by me,by them.
Mine are mom,dad and two kids. I started many years ago, feeding the Crows table-scraps,I had seven, six of them died from West Nile, one lame one remained. Then the cycle started,he found a girlfriend, they had babies etc... Every spring I am waiting to see the babies come and eat with the parents. Now they do not fly away when I am outside,I guess they finally figured out I am not an evil human. It's funny,I've learned their language kind of,I know when they are upset, which usually means there is a Hawk around,or when they are just communicating to each other because I put food out. There really isn't a bird I don't like, what is there not to like? Winston,I've seen videos showing how smart these birds are, maybe yours is a new one, love to see it. Melinda, that's a great story!

One of the things I find amazing about crows (bluejays also) is the chatter they make between them. They have so many different sounds and to listen to it you would assume a very indepth conversation is going on between the family.

I love crows, too. They really are amazingly smart! We don't have many around here, though--there were more when we lived in the city.
Yours seem to be enjoying their meal, chico!

Lukkas mom, yes, they communicate, one Crow will be the scout and he'll call the others as soon as I put food down,if you really listen you can hear the others answer, from further away.
This is what you do when your a retired empty-nester Rainbow,no names yet,am working on it.. We humans are so quick at calling any wild-life nuisances, while they have every right to live, just like us. I know people who can be more of a nuisance and chattier than any Crow Saigo,I have seen them watch a Squirrel bury a peanut, then the Crow digs it up,sorry Zoro lost his bone

They are such beautiful birds, and yes smart.
I get caught up at work sometimes watching crows figure out how to get ( for example) the last cheesie out of a bag, after a few attempts of sticking its head in and returning with nothing, he ( or she) picked the bag up, nothing happened, so it picked the bag up from the other end and voila, the cheesie fell to the ground! Thats a smart bird. Great pics!

Erykah,I was just outside and they were making a racket waay up in the sky chasing 2 large Hawks away,in a way protecting the Pigeons,Doves and other birds
I thought you would be the last one to like Crows, seeing you live in the country-side,but what do I know

Crows truly are one of the smartest birds around. It is amazing their sticktoitivness to get things done. We have a few around here. Usually out in the fields or on the roof. Of course hubby calls them nuisance birds.

Actually last week a Hawk was attacking one of the younger Crows in the air,mom or dad came to the rescue.
It was amazing to see how they checked the young one for any damages. I actually think any Hawk, bird of prey,is absolutely gorgeous and love seeing them here,I get all excited(does not take much)not so, when he gets one of my Pigeons or Doves, but they have to eat to survive. It's funny,I know right away when a Hawk is around, not a single bird to be seen, except for the odd Morning Dove, they seem too stupid to hide Also,I have a little Red Squirrel at the feeders,I was afraid he was going to be taken, but he's safe,OMG are they ever cute

My teacher once told me that crows can learn to talk just like some birds like parrots. His father once witnessed a pet crow speak. I thought it was a very interesting tidbit of information..lol.. I looove crows. I Put a saltbeef bucket out so they could eat birdseed without stealing the chick-a-dees food, and the first bugger that showed up took the bucket and all It was hilarious!
