Training Dog to Potty
Hi;
I have recently adopted a beautiful "weiner dog", and he is a puppy about 3- months old. I was able to successfully show my dog to poo on the newspapers that I have laid on our carpeted floor. However, since that time, he has been pooing and peeing all over the place. Does anyone have any useful advise on how to successfully potty-train a dog? |

of course , your neighbors will look at you this way If you caught him doing it inside , just say NO and take him outside. If after the fact , it's too late to do anything. |

Agreed with Frenchy.
Also, I would stay away from the newpapers and/or puppy pads. They are more trouble than they are worth - better to just teach your pup to go outside versus inside. I tried newspaper once out of desperation and all my dog did was eat them! It just takes consistency, patience, and loads and loads of praise! Remember that it can take until six months of age for a pup to become totally reliable with it.

Our 5 month old setter hasn't had any accidents in the house for well over a month now. We have never used newspapers or puppy pads to house train any of our dogs. 6 to 8 months is the magic number.
Like Chaser & Frenchy stated, consistency, patience, and tons of verbal praise goes a long way!
