Labs are amazing family dogs and very easy to train and eager to please. I am sure he will adjust wonderfully to your home.
And just in case you were having any doubts on your choice....the once german short-haired pointer I had was a high-energy nut-job. We loved him, but he was definitely not a calm, well-behaved guy. I definitely think you will have an easier time with the lab....but I hope the GSP does find his forever home too
