Collie with Lipoma

My 8 year old collie "Cookie" was diagnosed with a rather large lipoma on her chest recently. After consultation with our vet, we have decided to have it removed. I only discovered it a few months ago when I noticed she had a slight limp when I took her out for a walk. Don't know how long she has had it. Since she is a collie, she does have long hair and lots of it so it isn't noticeable. It doesn't really seem to bother her, but it is getting bigger, and since she is almost 8 years old, we decided to have our vet remove it before it gets any bigger and she gets older. Her surgery is scheduled for tomorrow morning and I have to admit, I am worried. I took her to my vet today for some preoperative geriatric blood work, and the vet that saw her thinks that some of the lipoma might be under her armpit. I am really hoping that is not the case as I understand the armpit is a difficult area to operate on due to nerves, etc. Fortunately my vet does laser surgery at his clinic, so this should help to reduce any blood loss. Has anyone else had a similar experience with their dog and lipoma?
