It's probably okay to wait. Listen for raspiness of breath, or the discharge turning greenish. Take him in if he gets too lethargic or if he stops eating, too.

KC is a pain in the patooti... We had 6 dogs all snarking and hacking at the same time for a few days...really a rather remarkable sound, but not one you want to hear...
