Thank you for your advice. I did have one that I thought would do well and then a varmint burrowed under the roots and exposed some of the roots to the winter weather, but it hung in and is slowly coming back. I buy my roses from the garden centres, not in plastic bags. So I am O.K. that way.

I am going back to the garden centre and see what they have that are hardy, using the names I read on this thread. Thanks everyone.

Maybe in a couple of years I will be able to post my roses. Yours are lovely.
