Here's my answer to your question.

I commend you for all your patience. It sounds as if Jake has this all figured out now - "his way". He's getting heaps of attention, though. It sounds as if your idea of his crate in your room just might be the answer but it probably won't be easy. With any kind of luck, he'll soon catch on. When you feel he is okay with the crate, try leaving the door open so he can go in and out. A lot of dogs get to like their crates and will seek them out even during the day. You obviously started him this way so you know the procedure.
