Did the vet suggest any tests to try to diagnose it? Ringworm is a common condition in cats with compromised immune systems, and because it can be contagious, I would want to get to the bottom of that strange patch as soon as possible.

In the meantime, a good diet is the best way to a healthy kitten so depending on what you're feeding him now, you may want to switch to the highest quality meat-based wet food (canned or raw) that you can afford.
