Thats odd! Personally I 've never had a similar experience with salmon.
It is very very good for them. Sadie has salmon, sardines or mackeral atleast once a week.
Why don't you try it again in a few days, just as a test. Take a couple tablespoons and mix it with the food.
That should probably give you your answer I would think.
