I would say go for it. But i would definately get an older dog who has been raised with cats.
We have 5 cats, our oldest will be 17 this year , and our youngest will be 10 this year, we have dog sat a golden retreiver as well as a Keeshond both were raised with cats and completely ignored our cats.
We are considering adopting a rescue dog, probably this summer.
We don't want a puppy, as a puppy will probably drive the cats crazy
