I have 3 male cats and the reason being exactly because female kitties can be miserable,I might be unfair judging since I've only ever had one female,but she did not get along with any other cats,very temperamental!!!
She lived to be 18 and she definetly kept the other cats in check!!
In all my experience with cats,I find males to be more layed back and accepting.
But,I guess a cat is a cat and I love them all
