You are right mafiaprincess, Legally you can't, but that doesn't mean you can't. Most wildlife centres will not take a lone squirrel. Looking at that little guy, I would think that he will be big enough to go out searching on his own in a short time.

When we rehabbed our first squirrel, once he was big enough, we prepared a safe haven for him on our patio and when we were outside took him with us and introduced him to his haven and little by little he began exploring, until he chose to sleep outside, then little by little he took off to live in the trees. In the morning I would go out and call him and he would come for his goodies all the time becoming more feral....I'm not saying that all cases can be worked out like that, just that it is possible.
