Could it be panleukopenia they were testing for???? That is normally deadly in cats, if momma was vaccinated and the kitten was nursing from momma then her vaccinations will help their tiny immune systems.

That was a fear with my foster kittens, they had almost white poop, but ended up being a gastro infection. Then then got sick again and it was caliccivirus.
