We feed green lamb tripe to our puppy and we give it as an addition to his meals (usually a couple of table spoons). It is very nutritious for them and they love it but be warned...it smells absolutely
We buy ours at a holistic pet food store...not sure where you would find it in Mississippi as we are in Toronto, Canada. Check around with some pet food stores in your area.
