Exclamation Bacon Grease and Bird Feeder

Does anyone know if it's o.k. to line an Oriole Bird Feeder with bacon grease?

A new style feeder I made has an open bottom and am finding this new one has turned out to be an ant haven. (picture below....)

I was thinking of placing a jar lid filled with bacon grease inside the bottom of the feeder sitting on the post. I was also going to cover the underside of the plastic container that the Orioles eat out of so if the ants try to climb up and in, they would hopefully slip back down onto the post.

There shouldn't be any bacon grease exposure to the orioles but if the ants bring it into the jelly, will this harm them?

Note to self....make another feeder like the old ones.
