Staph infections can be secondary to inflammation caused by other means. Allergies, contact irritation, arthropod stings or bites, food allergies are some other possibilities. The lawn chemical irritation is possible depending upon the type of lawn chemical, the amount of exposure and the pet's skin response to the chemicals.
