I live in the country . . . . so it's dial-up or death. Worse, country phone lines are markedly inferior to those in the city. If your neighbours are on the net, things slow to a crawl . . . . . about 10 or 15 minutes to download this page as an example.

I'm behind some big hills, so radio internet, which can be very fast, is out even though I'm fairly close to the source. They won't build a new tower anywhere near me even though the neighbours got together and tried to demonstrate a group would buy.

The only option left is satellite. That should be about 40-50 times faster than dial-up with the modest package I've ordered.

We'll see.
