I know I have dogs and you have cats, but for what it's worth, I think NV and most pre-made raw foods, have too much bone for some animals to handle, which can lead to constipation.

I second the suggestions of slippery elm and adding raw muscle meat to lower the bone % (which is what i do all the time, otherwise the dogs poop rock hard white stool).
