Our dog was like this when she first arrived here.....she disliked men although she wasn't aggressive toward them. It took a lot of time and effort to train her that men were okay...it can be done.

Actually CRC, I work with dogs as my living; which is how Tippy came to us in the first place.
I agree however, if there is ever a situation where we are unsure of our dog behavior, contacting a proffessional is certainly the right route before accidents happen.
