Hi E,

I really don't think that there is any issue with the anatomy or health of her feet or if there ever will be. A smooth foot pad just doesn't seem to be a serious physical problem.

Like I suggested before it is a friction problem.

I think you are right in that the concrete floor is making the pads super smooth. This is only a bad thing because she is slipping.


Perhaps put some cheap astroturf or carpet on the deck and in the basement.

Get some type of runner (thinish piece of carpet) to put in certain key areas of the home.

Or simply don't let her into the basement or get good or cheap carpet for the basement.

It's up to you to be creative in how you adapt your environment to ease the dog's footing.

They even have doggie booties that you might try.
