Rottweilers kill 10-year-old Wisconsin girl

Rottweilers kill 10-year-old Wisconsin girl
CTVNEWS.com Staff

A pack of six Rottweilers viscously attacked and killed a 10-year-old girl in a small Wisconsin town, but officials said on Saturday that no charges have yet been laid.

Alicia Clark was visiting a friend's house in Elroy, a town of about 1,530 residents about 240 km northwest of Milwaukee, when the dogs she and her friend were alone with attacked.

The Juneau County Coroner's Office said Clark died late Thursday from "multiple traumatic injuries, inflicted by six Rottweiler dogs."

No charges have been laid and police have not released information about the dogs' owner.

However, The Wisconsin State Journal newspaper said the little girl and her friend Missy McCracken were in the McCracken family house with the dogs at the time of the incident.

Clark's body was discovered by Shanda McCracken, the mother whose house Clark was visiting. Because the house did not have a phone, Shanda had to run three blocks to a neighbour's home to call police.

Elroy Police Chief Nick Dub told the newspaper that the dogs' owner -- presumingly Shanda McCracken, although no confirmation was given -- could face charges of negligence for leaving the girls alone with dogs, health and welfare charges.
