I hate to be cynical but
given that the award is based on nominations from ones team mates, I'll bet dollars to doughnuts he paid them handsomely to do so.
I also note that he'll be getting a lovely pay pkg. with a 1.5 million roster bonus ~ just for sitting on the bench. From the National Post: "Vick’s 2010 salary was to be $3.75M, with $1M guaranteed on the fifth day of the league year (today), the same day the Eagles were required pay him a roster bonus of $1.5M." Now, apparently, there is offset language: he hasn't been picked up by the Eagles nor has he been released so, if someone does pick up his option, the 2010 pay then becomes their issue to negotiate.
Would someone please pay me $1.5 k to sit on a bench. Any bench ~ i don't care where... as long as he's on it.
