Exclamation The circus will go on

The circus will go on

BRAMPTON GUARDIAN, Feb 24, 2012

A circus shut down before it started last weekend because the organizer failed to get a licence is all set to go ahead this weekend.

R K Entertainment worked with Brampton fire officials this past week to make changes to the venue so it meets fire code requirements, according to city officials.

All safety concerns have been addressed, according to the city, and a licence was issued today (Friday).

The Carnivale Great Family Fun Circus has a performance scheduled for tonight at 7 p.m. and four more on Saturday and again on Sunday.
The event, which has been held at the Powerade Centre for close to a decade now, was moved to an industrial area at 79 Bramsteele Rd. this year. But the event was cancelled at the last minute last weekend after the Guardian and the city received several complaints that the event was not licensed.

An advertising flyer published by R K Entertainment incorrectly identified the Bramsteele building as belonging to the Harvest Worship Centre. Harvest officials say they have not owned the building for at least two years. Harvest Worship Centre currently rents space in north Mississauga and in downtown Brampton.

Meanwhile, the circus will not go on without some controversy. A group of Bramptonians are expected to picket in front of the building Saturday, handing out Zoocheck pamphlets condemning the treatment of circus animals.
