probably a little late to reply to this now but.. if you give him his way... by taking him to bed with you when he howls he is always going to keep doing it. what we do is ignore him put a sheet over his crate and go back to bed... by bring him to bed with you he is learning that if he howls he will get your attention and get out of the crate
