Hmmmm...sounds peculiar. I think I'd be inclined to have it vet-checked, Northgirl. Dogs can get melanomas, too.
With luck it will just turn out to be an odd mole or freckle, but it would worry me till I had it checked. (Having said that, though, I do tend to be a worrier where it comes to the dogs.
