Nasal Mucous
Hi there,
I am hoping that readers of this forum may have suggestion/information regarding an ongoing problem with my dog.
A little background info:
Tundra is an 8 month old Border collie cross that was adopted from our local SPCA at 3 months of age (approx).
She is spayed, is up to date with all vaccines, etc.
Shortly after bringing her home we noticed she was sneezing, coughing, and had quite a bit of mucous coming from her nose.
Took her to the vet right away - he said not to worry unless she was lethargic or stopped eating/ drinking. No improvement after one week so we took her back and got the same response from the vet.
The problem did not get better (actually got worse) so we took her to a different clinic. Since then they have done blood work, a bacterial swab, a fungal swab, and a scope. The blood work showed signs of infection, but there was no bacteria or fungus. I should also mention that they ruled out a viral infection.
The vet then thought that she had a foreign body in her nasal area, but the scope showed nothing except lots more mucous.
Now they are suggesting that she needs to have a scan done, but in the mean time I am wondering if this could be allergies, sensitivity to something in her environment, food, I don't know.
Has anyone out there experienced anything like this?
It is now going on five months with this problem. She seems fine otherwise, good appetite and energy level.
Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.
