I love budgies.
My mother always kept them when I was growing up, and next to African Grey parrots, are one of the best talkers in the bird world. I always remember ours yelling "HURRY UP!" as we got ready for school in the morning.
Unless your bird is going to be out of the cage most of the time, get the biggest cage you possilbly can, and put lots of toys, branches, etc in. Budgies are VERY intelligent and need lots of stimulation and attention. If you want it mainly to watch, get two for the huge cage. They are very entertaining and always busy.
