These are foods to dissolve struvite crystals, you would then go onto the preventitive. However some people find they have to flip back and forth as crystals often do reoccur.
Feeding preventative to all cats in fine.
This is an option in a vet only food, in terms of a preventative diet many of the commercial holsitic foods create an acidic urine (the crystals prefer not to grow in that) and that are also low magnesium (a component of the crystal)
I would get some PH test strips so that you are aware of the PH your cat is producing. It should be below 7, ideally 6.4
Keep in mind, NO food guarantees to prevent crystals, as there are many factors, ie fluid intake, genetics, activity level.
