Question Dog back pain

Hi There,

I have a highly active, 4 year old cattle dog x bull terrier bitch. Two days ago she hurt her lower back - we think she did it jumping up on her hind legs to get at the squirrels in the tree (a behaviour we were/are trying to discourage). I was at work but my partner noticed when he went to scratch her but she yelped, she was very mopey, and she yelped jumping into the car and onto the sofa. She was fine walking, sitting, lying down - no problem, it's just the jumping.

We took her to a 24 hr vet that night, he did a physical exam and watched her walk. She seemed fine (though she still yelped getting in the car) no issues walking or moving. He gave her injections of pain killers and antibiotics (????) - one of which she had a massive reaction to with itchy welts all over her face and body (we whizzed her straight back for an anti-histimine). Yesterday she had a long walk in the morning with me and a when we took her out in the evening she was running around with the other dogs and bounding up and down the trails. But she's reluctant to jump in the car and then yelps when she does . We think this is a pulled muscle or tendon damage.

As she seems to be fine running around - do you think I am okay to take her running? Does anyone have any suggestions of how we can help her or exactly what it might be?
