Sorry, now that I'm done ROTFL

Gracie gets spots like that when she licks. A dog is likely to lick an irritation or wound, sometimes to the point where it gets bald and quite red/raw looking. In our experience, preventing/stopping the licking when you see it, or worst-case scenario putting a cone on when you're not around, and a dab of antibiotic ointment will clear it up in a few days. The trick is mainly to stop the licking long enough that it can heal up a bit, so the dog is no longer compelled to lick.
