My parents and sister have a cat (well many) one of them is Fibrizo, also known as Fibrix a tuxedo kitty of semi-long hair, a little crazy, a little angry sometimes but very loving and handsome.
Fibrizo was found by my sister in really bad shape as a kitten, with a skin infection, worms, etc. She took him to the vet they cleared all that and with time he grew into a beautiful cat and he has those charming sleepy eyes.
Fibrizo since a while ago has been struggling with an on going situation that brings him a lot of pain. He has a problem on one side of his mouth (inside) on one side in between the gum and the inner cheek. He gets this sort of ulcer and inflamation, sometimes with discharge (pus), my family tries to get him clean as much as he lets them. It's very painful to him and it has been on going for a couple of years now. It gets better and worse and so on. He has been taken to more than 1 vet (many times) and no one has been able to figure what it is or give a specific diagnosis. Vets testing has brought Fibrix a lot of pain. He also got one tooth extracted, many things have been tried and nothing brings really a solution.
That has made him moody and more violent when trying to assist him by cleaning or administrating prescriptions (and it's perfectly understandable) when it gets bad he has trouble grooming and also his saliva it's stinkier so he gets all smelly for that reason now they take him to the vet to give him a bath and slightly trim his fur (since it's long) to make it easier for him, since he can't groom himself too well when it hurts.
I've done some research and sometimes it could be something immune system related, also heard that is often a puzzling situation for most vets
I'm not there with Fibrix but it always worries me that no one has been able to do something effective about this mouth infection. Has anyone heard about something similar?
My mom says that some days she can see the pain in his eyes and it breaks my heart really.
He has his good seasons as well, and the status improves but still I am so worried because that thing just won't go away.
Here's our cutie taking a nap on the terrace's roof (they have access to the bedrooms through it as well and it's a pretty safe spot)
