It was about the same size as the goldfinches and moved really fast. If fact, I thought it was a goldfinch until I got my pictures home and didn't see any black on it. I was concentrating on the oriole because it's the first time I've seen one. Had I realized the little yellow bird was something new, I would have tried harder to get a better picture.
I really need a longer lens, there were several hawks floating in the sky and I would have loved being able to post a picture of several hawks all riding the thermals together. With my eyes I could see the white and black bellies, but all my camera got was hawk shaped shadows and very blurry shadows at that, they weren't even good silhouettes.
