they are living under my neighbors shed,I don't tell him,because then he'll do something cruel,like poisoning them and they are cute.
For the matts on Chester,you could try brushing them out,but it is usually too painful for the kitty.
When my cat had a few,I cut them(very carefully)with scissors and the then I brushed him,
If Chesters matts are really bad,he might need a groomer.
